The Renton Innovation Zone Partnership says farewell
Seattle – October 30, 2025 – The Renton Innovation Zone Partnership (RIZP) is permanently closing its doors tonight after seven years of addressing student and family needs in Renton and Skyway. RIZP announced its plan to sunset last summer as the funding climate changed and RIZP recognized it had accomplished much of what it set out to do.
Among its results, RIZP:
Delivered basic needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Helped establish the Skyway Resource Center, now a permanent fixture in the community.
Launched the first Summer Learning Day Camp in Skyway for elementary students.
Supported families entering middle school through its Spring Bling and Where Everyone Belongs programs.
“It feels great to leave a lasting impact on my community, where I grew up.” says Ryan Quigtar, RIZP’s executive director. “I feel accomplished and proud to say that the students and families of our community are better off and have more resources than before RIZP. None of this was possible without our partners and true collaboration.”
Leaving a legacy
As part of its wind-down, in September RIZP awarded over $280,150 in seed grants to partners and community-based organizations who serve the Renton and Skyway communities:

"I feel proud of our community and the work we completed together. We achieved far more than I could have dreamed in 2019. I believe our legacy will live on in the partners and connections we built," says Christabel Fowler, RIZP director of operations.
RIZP invites the community to listen to “How to close a nonprofit while honoring community,” a podcast conversation on how to close a non-profit organization with dignity and purpose. A legacy website will also remain live through 2028.
“When I first started doing public relations in Skyway, my only goal was to give back to the community that raised me while bringing positivity into the same streets I once caused a ruckus in. I'm Proud. Grateful. Humbled. Overwhelmed. All in the best way,” says Jasmine RaeLynn, RIZP’s communications director.
About Renton Innovation Zone Partnership
